“OUT-N-ABOUT”  CHAPTER 90
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE (S.O.P)

The name of the Chapter shall be “Out-N-About,” formed as part of the Good Sam Club. This is a volunteer organization of campers who participate in and love outdoor activities.

The Chapter shall abide with the Good Sam Club Constitution and By-Laws and promote the Good Sam Club Pledge.

The Good Sam Club Pledge

As a member of the Good Sam Club I pledge to give aid to others in need, respect nature and the environment, give back to the community and those less fortunate, treat others with dignity and respect, and to wear a smile (like Good Sam and Good Samantha’s) and promote the pledge of the Good Sam Club to others.

PURPOSE
1. Establish definite responsibilities of Chapter Officers and Members
2. Provide procedures for conducting the Chapter business

MEMBERSHIP
1. Chapter members must be a member of the Good Sam Club in good standing.
2. All adults in unit shall be considered members.
3. Dues for Chapter Membership are $15.00 for each calendar year payable
in November. Of these dues, $10.00 is for State and $5.00 is for the Chapter.
4. Associate Members are only required to pay Chapter dues.
5. Each Member is responsible for keeping their pets on a leash and for pick-up and
disposal of all pet litter.
6. Each member shall support chapter and state officers and assist when needed.
7. Each person shall have one vote.
8. Any member joining prior to January 1, 1999, will be considered Charter
Members.

OFFICERS
1. Officers to be elected for OUT-N-ABOUT, Chapter 90 are:
a. President
b. Vice-President
c. Secretary
d. Treasurer
e. Wagonmaster
f. Chaplain
g. Corresponding Secretary

2. Candidates shall be nominated by a Nominating Committee or from the
Membership floor.
3. Elections shall be held at the August meeting.
4. Each officer is elected for one calendar year. The President and Treasurer shall
not be from the same household.
5. Vice-President to move up to President after serving one (1) year as
Vice-President.
6. In the event of a vacancy, the President may appoint a pro-tem officer to serve
until the next election.

DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS
1. President
a. Conduct Chapter business meeting.
b. Represent the Chapter and vote on matters concerning State issues at
scheduled state meetings. In the event the President cannot attend; the Vice-President or a designate shall attend these meetings.
c. Shall appoint Chairpersons of Committees as needed.
d. Follow through with programs adopted by the State and Local Chapters.
e. Authorized to act in the interest and welfare of the chapter.
f. Appoint audit committee. Committee to consist of 2 Members
(non-officers), President as Chair, and the outgoing and incoming
Treasurers. Audit to be complete before new slate of officers take their
positions at the beginning of the year.
g. In July, appoint Nominating Committee to obtain candidates to fill offices
and present slate at August meeting. At this time, Candidates may also
be presented from the Membership floor. Then vote is taken.
h. Preside over vote in August.

2. Vice-President
a. Assist the President at all Chapter activities.
b. Conduct Chapter meetings in the absence of President.

3. Secretary
a. Record and keep accurate minutes of business meetings and read same
at the following meeting for adoption or correction and adoption.
b. Provide copy of same to President prior to next monthly meeting so
he/she can set their agenda.
c. Keep Medical and Emergency forms. These are optional forms which
may be filled out by Members to provide emergency information. These
are to be kept in Secretary’s file. Copies are to be taken to campouts by
Monthly Hosts.

4. Treasurer
a. Keep a written, itemized record of expenses and receipts to be read at
each monthly meeting for adoption or correction and adoption.
b. Provide copy of same to the Secretary for the permanent record.
c. Receive and record annual dues.
d. Forward State dues $10.00 per Member along with current Membership
List to State Treasurer.
e. Responsible to fill out forms (with instructions) provided by Good Sam
Club by January 31st of each year.
f. Keep a list of current Members with current addresses and Good Sam
Numbers.
g. Submit records to the Audit Committee when/as requested.

5. Wagonmaster
a. Request volunteers for monthly Hosts for each campout throughout our
camping season (April, June, July, August, October).
b. Obtain volunteer Host for April campout the previous October/November
and inform all Members by December.
c. Obtain balance of volunteer Hosts at April Meeting.
d. Prepare written Campout Schedule (who will be hosting monthly
campouts) to be passed out to Members by the May meeting.

Duties of Monthly Host
* Pick place to have monthly campout. (see meetings and
campouts item 3)
* Find out pertinent information about costs, availability and
when reservations must be in; if campground will hold
sites, give discounts, and etc.
* Arrange for at least one meal at campout (may be potluck
and/or at a restaurant.)
* Report on campout at following meeting.

6. Chaplain
a. Offer Prayer at beginning of each meeting and all dinners.
b. If campout dates include a Sunday, if possible, find out which and where
churches are in the area and/or if the campground offers a service.

7. Corresponding Secretary
a. Write and send Chapter news to person responsible for
publishing appropriate items on State Facebook page.

MEETINGS AND CAMPOUT
1. Regular Chapter business meetings to be held monthly (second Monday night of
the month) during the camping season.
2. During the winter months there will be no regular business meetings but there will
be fellowship meetings held at appointed time and place at Members’ discretion.
3. Campouts are to be held the third or the fourth week of each month during the
camping season.

CHAPTER LOGO/PATCH AND COLORS
1. A logo/patch has been designed by the founding Members and adopted by the
Membership. Its colors are kelly green, light blue and gold.
2. Vests and/or shirts are to be tan.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. No payments shall be made from the Chapter Treasury unless authorized by
Membership approval.
2. Forms filled out with personal information when securing Membership will be held
by the Secretary in Chapter file.
3. Medical and Emergency Forms (are optional) and may be filled out to be held by
the Secretary and to be taken to the meetings and camp outs by Monthly host.
4. Chapter to do various charitable activities.

AMENDING STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE (S.O.P.)

1. The chapter S.O.P. may be amended by a majority of those attending a regular
meeting of the chapter after giving a fifteen (15) day notification to the active
Membership of an attempt to change the S.O.P.
