Out-N-About

Campout Host Guide

The Out-N-About Good Sam Club appreciates your willingness to be a Campout Hos for a monthly campout.  A Wagonmaster has a number of responsibilities of an important nature, those will be covered first followed by a list of items that your fellow campers will appreciate.

1.      Selection of a campground – the campground should be within   xxx   miles of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.  Please notify Chapter Wagonmaster of your selection.  Email earleinhaus@gmail.com or by phone at 513-385-1326. The Wagonmaster will post your information on the Chapter Website.  http://www.ona.us50.cc

2.      Group reservations (how many do they generally reserve?) need to be made so the camping club members can be close together. Full hookup pull thru sites are desirable.  It would be beneficial that the sites be close to a meeting lodge or shelter house.

3.      Prior to the campout check on road work being scheduled that may alter the route to the campground.  Provide information regarding road closures and detours.

4.      The nights for camping are normally Sunday thru Thursday, sometimes it is Monday thru Thursday. Please check the location for the checkout time. We don’t want to arrive early and discover our site is still occupied.

5.      The club normally has a pitch-in night, please state the night. It has been the custom to have the pitch-in on Monday or Tuesday.

Ideas/suggestions from past Campout Hosts:

Scout out the area around the campground for interesting places to visit and restaurants in the area.

Some have been everywhere and others have been somewhere.  If you are the Campout Host, please provide what information you have about the Park and the surrounding area that you have selected.  If you have researched interesting links the links can be posted on the Out-N-About (ONA) website.

If you want to write up information about the Park ,  we would welcome your shared experience and post it on the website. Snow bird articles are welcome.

Campout Host plan the pitch in meal and may provide the main item or perhaps a theme which then gives club members an idea on what to contribute to the meal.
